Is there a way to group the Kanban cards using one type of group (Status), and then sort within the column using another field type such as date or priority? Thank you!
Hi, thanks for the question. Yes, this can be done.
Grouping and ordering are two separate settings on the Kanban block:
- Grouping: pick Status as the group field, and each status value becomes a column.
- Order of the cards inside the columns: open the block settings and use Default sorting, then add the field you want the cards ordered by, for example the due date (ascending or descending) or Priority. More than one sort field is supported, so you can sort by priority first and by date second.
Two things worth knowing:
- The sorting rule belongs to the block, so every column is ordered by the same field or fields; there is no separate sort per column.
- If Enable drag and drop sorting is turned on, the cards follow the sort field used for dragging (which has to match the group field), and Default sorting is not applied. Turn drag sorting off when you want the date or priority order to take effect instead.
If your Kanban block does not show Default sorting, tell me the NocoBase version you are using and I will check that version.
