Hello. I was wondering if there are any plans to improve on the style options for blocks. I see where you’ve added in the feature to add color or background to individual elements, but it’s quite limited.
As you can see by this screenshot, adding in a background color just doesn’t look very clean since it doesn’t have padding. I think expanding the styling options to give us the ability to change the background color of the entire block instead of just certain elements would be a great feature (and look a little better too).
Alternatively, I think a plugin that would allow us the ability to apply a custom css class to any block along with a place (perhaps in the theme settings) to insert custom css code - would also be a good option and give non programmers such as myself a very easy way to customize the look of the app further without having to understand or mess around with a bunch of complex code .
So I’m just curious if there are any plans for improving on the existing styling options? I’m just trying to figure out my options as I definitely want to have more flexibility to customize the look of the app further, but I don’t want to hire a developer to create a plugin if you guys are already thinking about doing something similar.
Thanks
Kevin
Hi @kevinhawk ,this topic is quite broad, and without a solid overall plan, it’s difficult to determine how we should enhance the ability to define styles. Could you provide some examples of what kind of styles you would like to define?
Thanks for the reply. Padding would an obvious one that comes to mind for me. As you can see in the screenshot in the first post, the text is right on the edge of background color. It would look much better if I could add in 20px padding or something.
But it would be nice if we could also apply these same styling options to entire blocks so I could achieve the look of the screenshot below with the light blue background on the entire “Announcements” block.
These are just basic ideas if you were just going to stick with improving on your existing styling options.
Another Approach
However, thinking long term about styling flexibility inside nocobase, I think another approach would be to give us the ability to define and save global css styles. Something as simple as what the wordpress customizer offers.
Then the only additional functionality we would need is a simple text field where we could apply a custom css class to a block or element.
This would open up the door to endless styling possibilities inside nocobase simply by defining css classes and having a simple form field where we can apply these css classes to a block or element.
Hope this helps.
